1st Great Baddow Scout Group celebrates its fifth birthday this year. Since November 2011 the group have been providing a wide range of activities to more than 60 children at any one time across its three sections (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts).

To say our activities are diverse would be an understatement. In the last six months alone we have camped, climbed, abseiled, hiked, cooked, caved, tunnelled, canoed and zip-wired to main just a few. Not to mention participating in the annual Great Baddow Horticultural Society’s potato growing competition.

In addition to its regular Thursday evening sessions the group also provides a number of camps and sleepovers each year in a range of different settings including tents, ships and even underground bunkers!.

The group is run entirely by volunteers, not just directly with children but also helping us with some of our “back office” functions as well. We currently have a few vacancies that we would love to fill to ensure we are able to continue to provide fun and adventure to children in Great Baddow for at least another five years.

  • Leaders and Helpers in any of our sections
  • Treasurer (we’re not looking for Mark Carney, just someone who can keep our books in order!)
  • Members for our Executive committee

If you would like to find out more take a look at our website. Our Group Scout Leader, Paul Bedwell, would love to hear from you if you would be interested in volunteering. He can be contacted via gsl@1stgreatbaddowscouts.org.uk or 01245 471632
