Great Baddow has a BMX Track in Baddow Hall Park, which can be accessed from the Maldon Road or New Road. It is a community project, with all funds raised by local enthusiasts with donations from the council. It opened in October 2011.
It is a great asset to Great Baddow and is used daily. Even when we had heavy snow some die-hard teenagers were out there on their bikes.
What is a Pump Track? A pump track is designed so that the riders bodyweight and momentum, combined with aggressive “pumping” of the bike, propel it around the track. Pedalling is to be kept to a minimum. It is a particular style of riding a BMX bike and well suited to smaller tracks.
It is open every day of the year, although it is closed to the public on a few rare occasions when Essex County Council run courses during the school holidays.
