Sandon School

The Sandon School

Great Baddow has two secondary schools, four primary schools (Baddow Hall is two schools, Infants and Juniors), a pre-school  and two nursery schools which also provide pre-schooling.

Secondary schools are Great Baddow High School on the north side of the village, and The Sandon School on the south side (although The Sandon School is in Sandon, it serves a large number of people from Baddow).

The Primaries are Baddow Hall, Beehive Lane, Larkrise and Meadgate.

Nursery and pre-schools are Woodcroft , St. Mary’s and Little Spring Wonders Daycare Nursery.

Great Baddow High School

Great Baddow High School provides secondary education and also has a Sixth Form. It is also a Sports College and GBHS compete in regional and national competitions in Athletics / Cross Country, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Netball, Swimming, Rugby and many other sports. The Sports College holds classes in the mornings at 7.45 am and also on Saturdays (see our full page).

The Sandon School

The Sandon School is on Molrams Lane on the boundary between Great Baddow and Sandon. Sandon is proud of its achievements in Art, Science and Technology and has a very popular Sixth Form.

Baddow Hall Infant School

Baddow Hall primary is split into 2 separate schools; Baddow Hall Infants and Baddow Hall Juniors (see below).

Baddow Hall Infant School opened in September 1968. It has large play grounds and well equipped classrooms. The school has Reception classes, Year 1 and Year 2. They run several sports and activity clubs such as drama, football, French classes and piano lessons.

Baddow Hall Junior School

Baddow Hall Junior School is on the same site as the infant school but it is a separate school in all other terms. Years 3, 4 and 5 are taught. They run several sports and activity clubs including chess, netball, badminton, choir and running.

Beehive Lane Primary School

Beehive Lane is a popular, happy and caring school where expectations and standards are high and where every child is valued. There is one central hall and all classrooms are open plan and interconnected.

Larkrise Primary School

Larkrise is a Community Primary School for infant and junior boys and girls aged from four to eleven years.

Meadgate Primary School

Meadgate is a Primary School catering for boys and girls from reception to Year 6.

Woodcroft Nursery School

Woodcroft is one of only two local authority nursery schools maintained by Essex County Council. Woodcroft is run by qualified teachers and also runs before and after school clubs.

St. Mary’s Preschool

Established in 1968, the playschool is within the Church centre, next to St. Mary’s Church. The Victorian building, which is the former village school.

Little Spring Wonders Daycare Nursery

Little Spring Wonders is a privately owned Day Nursery and crèche is open open all year (closed bank holidays and Christmas week). They take babies from 3 months old and also run an after school club for Baddow Hall boys and girls.
