Waste collection and recycling is done on a Tuesday in Great Baddow. Main waste (black bin) is weekly. All collection dates are below. What goes in which bin? If you need a new green box, request one here.

• Plastics and cartons bag: all plastic bottles, lids, drinks cartons, ready meal trays, ice cream tubs, yoghurt pots, spread pots, fruit and veg punnets, plastic carrier bags, cling film, plastic flower pots.
• Brown bin / garden waste: Grass and hedge cuttings, leaves, small bracken and twigs, shrub cuttings and small branches.
• Green box: Clear and coloured glass, jars, bottles, tins, cans. Textiles: (in a separate bag inside the green box): Textiles, clothes, blankets, rags and pairs of shoes. Electrical: (in another bag): small appliances (e.g. toasters, hair dryers etc.), remote controls, electronic toys, radios, watches, clocks, calculators, torches, grooming equipment.
• Paper sack: office paper, newspapers, magazines, white paper and envelopes, catalogues, books, Yellow pages, greeetings cards, shredded paper
• Cardboard sack: cardboard boxes, brown paper and envelopes, wrapping paper, cardboard food packaging
• Food waste bin: All food including: raw and cooked meat and fish, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, bread and pastries, rice, pasta, beans, plate scrapings, leftovers, tea bags and coffee grounds.

The following items cannot be recycled by the kerbside collectors, instead please take to the Recycling Centre for Household Waste in Broomfield:

• Batteries, car batteries, old bikes, electrical items, light bulbs, furniture, oil, paint, wood.
• Also do not put the following in the recycling bags and boxes: wallpaper, waxed paper, liquids and fats, pet food, broken glass, window panes, visionware / Pyrex, metal utensils, cutlery, pillows, duvets, carpets, mats, large electrical appliances (larger than handheld devices), videos, bubble wrap, polystyrene packaging, hard plastics, stones, bricks, slabs, soil, nappies, toxic waste.
