Great news for Meadgate Primary School, Ofsted has given it a rating of Good. Only a year ago it was placed in Special Measures. Read the report here (pdf, opens in new window).
Meadgate has been praised for its good teaching standards and very positive improvements in the leadership team who have led by example and improved staff morale and student happiness at the school.
Summary of the Ofsted report
- “Pupils now make good progress because teaching is at least good”
- “Consistent and effective day-to-day management has transformed the climate of the school so that behaviour is now good”
- “Pupils feel safe.”
- “Improvements in teaching are well led”
- “This is a very different school to the one that existed at the time of the previous inspection.”
Eveleigh Link Academy Trust
Meadgate primary and Purleigh Primary School have also joined forces to form the Eveleigh Link Academy Trust. Joe Figg, Meadgate’s headteacher, said that this new partnership has helped lift Meadgate and strongly recommends other schools in the region to consider a similar partnership. The Purleigh Community Primary School has been awarded outstanding status by Ofsted.
Joe Figg went on to say “Through the trust both schools have been supporting each other by observing the teaching, talking to one another and learning together. Meadgate needed changes to be made after the previous Ofsted and I think since the trust was set up just over six months ago it has been a key reason for the improvements.
“Our latest report shows how this type of partnership is the way forward and I think other schools should give it a go as it will help the children get the best education.”
Meadgate is already setting its sights on an outstanding rating. Spirits are high and Great Baddow has another great primary school to be proud of.
