New Sign for Great Baddow

2014-02-24 09.16.42Great Baddow has a new village sign. It replaces the old sign and is in the same place, on the tiny “green” opposite St. Mary’s Church and the White Horse.

The sign was designed and made by local metal-work craftsman Dan Rawlings.

The sign features Baddow Tower, green trees and the Essex shield. It is a innovative piece of metal work which has the Baddow tower extended beyond the top edge or the sign.

The unveiling of the sign was reported in the Essex Chronicle. Dan shared the page on his website (see below).

The old sign had to be replaced after the post rotted away. It was dated 1990, so survived a 23 years of standing out in all weathers, rain or shine!
