The Vineyards

The Vineyards Shopping Centre sits at the heart of Great Baddow, nestled between Church Road, High Street, The Causeway and Maldon Road (postcode CM2 7QS). Before the Vineyards was built in the 1960s there was a Georgian house on the site. This was later converted into a hotel before the whole area was redeveloped. There is car parking to each side plus a few spaces on the road adjacent to the centre.

The main shopping centre has remained almost unchanged for the last 20 years. Somerfield became the Co-op and a Boots Chemists and Haven’s Hospice are new additions, replacing the an old knitting shop, and the new Glasshouse coffee shop at the centre of the Vineyards provides a place to sit down and relax.

The Vineyards should be celebrated. It is within walking distance of everywhere in Great Baddow, and there is a traditional butchers, a bakers, green grocer, newsagent, charity shop, chemist, hairdressers, 2 banks, convenience store, hardware store, greetings cards and gift shop and a betting shop. Plus there is a Chinese takeaway and restaurant and a fish and chip shop. Few villages offer so many excellent services – Great Baddow residents rarely need to go into town. Here are all the shops and services at the Vineyards, starting with the cafe at the centre and then working around in an anti-clockwise fashion.
